Bharti Airtel registers profit after tax of Rs 7.21 billion for the second quarter of 2012

Bharti Airtel has reported a profit after tax of Rs 7.21 billion for the second quarter ended September, 2012.
Sales for the period under consideration stood at Rs 202.83 billion and consolidated revenue was Rs 202.73 billion. Bharti Airtel's EBITDA margin for the period under consideration stood at 39.3 per cent. Consolidated operating free cash flows stood at Rs 22.96 billion.
The operator's overall customer base at the end of the second quarter ending September, 2012 stood at 262.6 million across 20 countries. The operator's average revenue per user (ARPU) for the same period for its Indian operations stood at Rs 177. The ARPU for its African operations stands at $6.4.
Commenting on the result, Sunil Bharti Mittal, chairman and managing director, Bharti Airtel Limited, says, "Despite a seasonally weak quarter, I am pleased to see that our overall revenue growth has sustained through diversified segments and geographies as well as the continuing healthy demand in data services. I am also happy to note that in India, the much needed market corrections in customer acquisition practices have been put in place by the operators. Our African operations continue to reflect sustained and steady growth on all major parameters of revenues, profitability and cash flow."
